What they do

Established in 2004, Stab Magazine is an online surf publishing network based in Australia, which originated as a style and surf print magazine. Fast forward over a decade and Stab has not only flourished, but innovated, and pioneered through the ups and downs that the industry has gone through, and by embracing the digital era has led the way for others to follow. It leveraged its strong relationships with brands and athletes to boost its successful digital platform and has become a social media hub in surf and a trusted source of product reviews, and exclusive content. Their early concept shoots were what set them apart and along with projects like Little Weeds and Stab in the Dark, the media business has established itself as one of the market leaders in the space. Stab Mag drives over 750,000 unique monthly users to its site.

Our challenge

  • Create and set up Email Strategy: Briefs + Design + Automated Send-Out.
  • Improve and automate the brand’s Customer Relationship and Communication.
  • Boost traffic and subscriptions on their webpage.

How we did it:

Step 1

Audit: Refindable did an audit of their current set up in Campaign Monitor and Memberfull, and re-made and pitched a full setup for old and new automations, including welcome journeys, subscription reminders, content promotion and new launches.

List Clean up: There was a significant list cleanup to be done due to overlapping and incorrectly tagged contacts. We adjusted the list using Memberfull augmented data.

Banner: More conversions for the non-paying users to subscribe in order to get more people to the signup/pricing page for subscription increase. 

Step 2 

We created an Email Automation Roadmap to share with the client and describe what type of emails the campaign will have, setting due dates and including all the corresponding briefs to be approved.

 

Step 3

Once the briefs were approved they were sent to be designed on Campaign Monitor. When the first draft was ready, it was sent again for approval.

We tracked the performance and shared a weekly analysis with the client to check the campaign’s results.

Documentation and visual tracking

We documented all of the running promotions not only visually but also their goals in various different forms and files. We followed the documentation and changes of the emails over a period of several years and months.

In partnership with Db, we navigated a successful rebranding journey, emphasizing the brand’s evolution while maintaining its core identity. Commencing with collaborative sessions, they shared the rebranding guidelines to start the transformation. While the focus was on a style rebrand, preserving the brand’s essence remained paramount.

The graphic design of Db’s communication underwent a comprehensive change, including a redesigned logo, updated typography, and carefully selected new images for email marketing campaigns, both broadcast and automated. Our collaborative approach involved multiple meetings to refine and adjust the new designs, ensuring alignment with Db’s vision and market expectations.

The result is a visually impactful rebrand that not only modernizes Db’s image but also communicates its core values effectively. The revamped design has garnered positive feedback, contributing to increased brand visibility and success in the competitive landscape.
